Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award Program

The Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award Program was established in 1989 by the Ohio Educational Service Center Association to promote student achievement and to recognize outstanding students. Annually one senior from each of Ohio’s eighty-eight counties receives this prestigious honor.

The award bears the name of Dr. Franklin B. Walter, who served as State Superintendent from 1977-1991. During his tenure, Dr. Walter worked with three governors, significantly improved public education in the state, and brought Ohio’s schools to the forefront of the nation’s attention.

Students receiving the award in 2023 are Michael Telakowicz from Hillsdale High School representing Ashland County, Grace Schlabach from East Holmes High School representing Holmes County and Emily Batchlet from Orrville High School representing Wayne County.
