Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS WANTED (both Academic and Career Technical Substitute Teachers)
No formal teaching experience required—will train and assist you through the substitute licensing process.

We are looking for both career technical substitute teachers and academic substitute teachers that are flexible, compassionate individuals who are committed to student learning and success to work on a substitute (part-time, on-call) basis as a substitute teacher for the 18-19 school year. 

Substitute teachers play a vital role in the educational process.  Adaptability is crucial. They are responsible for creating and maintaining a classroom environment that is effective, safe, and conducive to learning. 

ACADEMIC SUBSTITUTE TEACHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field of study
  • State-mandated BCI & FBI background checks
  • Substitute license or teaching license

CAREER TECHNICAL SUBSTITUTE TEACHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5 years of full-time work experience in the field (employment verification required) in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • High school/GED
  • State-mandated BCI & FBI background checks
  • Substitute career technical license

COMPENSATION:

  • $80 per day to start with possible graduated increases to $110 after 30 days
  • Enrollment of School Teachers Retirement System (STRS) with employee contributions
