Progress Monitoring

Preschoolers with Special Needs

The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) mandates tools for progress monitoring of preschoolers with special needs.  Please find a summary of these tools.  A staggered schedule during the first week of school will allow teachers to complete each of these assessments.  It is the initial administration of these assessments that give teachers a focused picture of student stills at program entry.

Get It! Got It! Go!

This is an early literacy tool that provides information regarding skills in picture naming, rhyming and alliteration.  ODE requires that this tool be administered in the fall and spring of each school year.

Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ:SE)

This screening tool provides information regarding social and emotional skills.  ODE requires that this tool be administered in the fall of each school year.

Early Childhood Outcomes Summary Form

This tool serves as a performance measure of preschool children receiving special education services in early language/literacy, social-emotional and behavioral skills.  ODE requires that this tool be completed in the fall and spring of each school year.  This tool is a new requirement.  Thus, this will be the first school year for its completion.
