Training Program Foundations
- Structured Literacy: Embedded in all of our programs are the principles of Structured Literacy, including the key components of phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. Participants will gain a deep understanding of how these elements work together to build strong reading skills.
- Explicit Instruction: Learn and implement the foundational practices of explicit instruction in literacy, during which instruction is systematic, direct, engaging, and success oriented. This includes modeling skills, breaking down tasks, providing effective feedback, and encouraging active student participation.
- Diagnostic Assessment and Intervention: Tailor instruction to address students’ specific needs through diagnostic assessment, intervention and progress-monitoring. Learn how to utilize diagnostic tools and analyze data to determine a student’s instructional needs and design interventions that best serve each individual student.
- Classroom Application: Translate Structured Literacy principles into actionable classroom practices. Explore lesson planning, classroom management, and techniques for engaging students in meaningful reading and learning activities.
