The temporary substitute teaching license, created during the COVID-19 pandemic as a non-renewable license, has been made permanent. This license allows individuals with at least a high school diploma to substitute teach, even if they do not have a bachelor’s degree. The license is specific to the district that approves the applicant and is valid only in that district for teaching in any assigned class of any subject area and grade level. Applicants must have a current background check on file with the Department.

We are looking for both career technical substitute teachers and academic substitute teachers that are flexible, compassionate individuals who are committed to student learning and success to work on a substitute (part-time, on-call) basis as a substitute teacher.
Substitute teachers play a vital role in the educational process. Adaptability is crucial. They are responsible for creating and maintaining a classroom environment that is effective, safe, and conducive to learning.
ACADEMIC SUBSTITUTE TEACHER REQUIREMENTS:

CAREER TECHNICAL SUBSTITUTE TEACHER REQUIREMENTS:
5 years of full-time work experience in the field (employment verification required) in lieu of a

COMPENSATION:
$120 per day to start with possible graduated increases to $140 after 30 days
