Capital Campaign

Capital Campaign

Tri-County International Academy was established through the generous support of LuK USA and in partnership with area school districts in 2006 to offer tri-county area students the opportunity to participate in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. The academy’s consortium-based program is unique among IB schools.

As our fifth class of graduates enters universities and colleges in Fall of 2012, we are gathering an increasing number of success stories as evidence of the program’s benefit to students and, as a result, are better able to present concrete results to future students. We are optimistic that our program enrollment is nearing a turning point in the next two years from something of an experimental business and education partnership to an established educational option, and we believe the financial support of business partners such as LuK and others can help see us through to achieve that goal.

While the academy is primarily funded through tuition fees paid to the academy by each student’s home district, the number of students presently enrolled in the program does not yet allow us to meet our operating costs. We are looking to members of the business community to help support the academy with the goal of sustaining the program until a sufficient numbers of students are enrolled to better fill the budget gap.

Campaign Progress

We are pleased with the progress of the current capital campaign. As of early Winter 2011/2012, we are closing in on our goal for this school year of just over $200,000. This success is in large-part due to the generousity and support of  the following tri-county area businesses:

We offer our sincere gratitude to these supports as well as the anonymous donors of a matching grant that are contributing to the success of this campaign.  Please consider contributing to this effort through the Wayne County Community Foundation.  Your donation will be matched by this group and double its impact on the program.

Two-Pronged Approach

The capital campaign is one of two fronts on which we’re approaching the goal of long-term sustainability for the academy. We are working diligently to ensure that we are reaching a greater number of students for whom the program is the right educational fit. Our target is to see enrollment stabilize at around 25 students per graduating class – a total which averages less than two students from each of our partnering districts per class. As this goal is achieved, our dependence on outside funding sources diminishes dramatically in the 2012-2013 school year.

The 2010-2011 school year saw the creation of a marketing task force to explore how to best reach potential students and their families and a great showing of support from our current students and their families.  The actions of this committee led the way to the largest incoming junior class ever.

We firmly believe that this program is both a benefit to students seeking a superb educational option and to businesses working to demonstrate the merits of the quality of life and education in our region when recruiting future employees to the area.
